Top 10 Must-Have Cleaning Supplies

So you’re moving out of your parent’s house and into your very own home. What cleaning supplies will you need to start off right? This list can also be helpful if you already have a home and are looking for supplies to add to your cleaning arsenal. These 10 products are a must-have to keep your home sparkling.
    • Sponges – There are many types of sponges to choose from. The 2 best-selling and highly rated sponges on Amazon are made by Scrub Daddy and Scotch-Brite. I choose to use Scrub Daddy sponges because they’re odor resistant and non-abrasive. Sponge Daddy sponges are made of a FlexTexture foam that firms up in cold water and softens in warm water, making it dual purpose. Scotch-Brite sponges are also dual purpose as they have a non-abrasive scrub side and a sponge side. They can also be sanitized by placing them in the dishwasher or the microwave for 1 minute (it must be wet or it’ll catch fire).

    • Broom – There can’t be that many to choose from right? Wrong. A simple search on Amazon for “broom” will result in over 1,000 results. So how do you choose? Are you looking for something small? Something big? Do you want a dustpan? I think a dustpan is a necessity. You need to look for a broom with angled bristles so it can reach into corners and under furniture. O-Cedar Pet Pro Broom & Step-On Dustpan is a great choice for animal owners as it has v-shaped bristles  for better floor contact and is angled to reach corners. They also have the O-Cedar PowerCorner Angle Broom with Dustpan. This broom is angled and has soft and firm bristles to capture dirt, dust, and hair.
    • Mop – Mops come is many shapes and sizes and have different features. Once again, O-Cedar makes the top 10 list with their EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop & Bucket. This mop system will make your job much easier as you don’t have to manually wring out the mop. The bucket has a built-in spinner that is powered by your foot. The mop head can be removed and washed. Also, replacement mop heads from O-Cedar are too expensive so I order mine from Amazon.

    • Dish Towels – I can’t tell you how many paper towels have been saved in my house because we have a HUGE assortment of dish towels. Check out these best-selling dish towels on Amazon. They have an assortment of colors to choose from.

    • Vacuum – Finding the right vacuum cleaner these days is a challenge as they have so many different options. My house only has carpet in 3 small bedrooms so I use the eureka PowerSpeed Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner. This vacuum is lightweight, bagless, and can be used on hard floor and carpet. But hey! If you’re able to drop $600 on a vacuum, check out the Dyson v15 detect Vacuum! This one’s on my wishlist!

    • Scrub Brushes – Scrub brushes come in handy for deep cleaning and getting into corners and tight areas. However, there are many types of scrubbers available. You can choose between manual scrub brushes and electric scrub brushes. This set of brushes includes a dish brush, scrub brush, bendable brush, gap brush, scouring pad, and a grout brush. You can also opt for a Rubbermaid Reveal Cordless Multi-Purpose Scrubber that comes with 7 different head attachments. For larger surfaces, I went for this Electric Spin Scrubber. It can be used on floors, walls, sinks, toilets, glass, showers, and bathtubs.
    • Bucket – If your mop didn’t come with a bucket, your’re missing out! Just kidding! Check out this collapsible bucket that can be used for various tasks.

    • Microfiber Cloths – Microfiber cloths are a necessity when cleaning as they are highly absorbent, lint free, scratch free, and reusable.

    • Rubber Gloves – Another necessity when using cleaning product, especially if you have sensitive skin. Cleaning products contain bleach and other toxic chemicals that are harmful to our skin. My favorite set of rubber gloves come in a 6pk. They fit well and reach far enough up my arm for me to feel comfortable. The gloves from Dollar Tree are too big and slide down while I’m cleaning.
